Handy little item, but delicate plastic parts don't last Dec 04, 2009

My husband and I both got one of these wallets in May. We love the concept and the style, but we are very disappointed in the durability of these wallets. After approximately six months of use, the plastic pockets in my wallet are splitting along their sides, and the plastic latch on my husband's wallet has stopped latching (it is not cracked or broken, it simply will not catch). We have both been very careful to carry a minimum of cards in the wallet and have not overloaded them or subjected them to unreasonable wear. We both find these wallets to be ideal and convenient, but are shocked at the fragile materials used, which shorten their lifespan. These wallets are expensive, and it is absurd to have an impact-proof metal shell with a feeble plastic latch and innards.

Originally I loved this wallet because the concept is good. Create a wallet out of metal parts so it is durable. Of course when you introduce cheap plastic materials in the execution of even the best concept it turns into junk. This so called metal wallet is in truth metal and cheap plastic construction. The wallet is held together by a cheap thin metal rod connecting to two far cheaper plastic end caps. In no time at all my case lasted 6 months before falling apart. The plastic lining is coming out of the metal case. The latch failed early on so it never closes without the help of rubber bands I supply. Let's face it this wallet is an example of a good idea turned into a cheap worthless peice of junk.
I know you might want a strudy metal wallet but save your money do not buy this because; it is junk that might not last a full six months in ordinary use. This junk gets one star only because, there is no way to give it the NEGATIVE 5 FIVE STAR or ZERO STAR rating it has earned.

I still needed a good durable wallet that could stand up to the punishment I put all anything I own through because I am very physically disabled \ cerebral palsy and brain damage. I thought metal wallet was the way to go WRONG! I ended up buying a very BIG Strong Solidly built Leather Wallet from Saddleback Leather Company another seller here on Amazon.com. The leather wallet I brought was expensive $60 (Worth every penny!), very big (Barely fit in the pockets of my jeans) and well built. I had my Saddle Back Leather Wallet for going on 2 years now and it is still in great shape. It has gotten just soft enough to slide in my jeans pocket with just a little extra effort. My cards are held tight. My money is held fine. Some people have problems with the wallet breaking creidt cards I had my wallet for 2 years now and never broke on credit or other card.
This wallet is like the old huge hard super thick biker wallets we used to make in leather crafts in the 1970's. The leather was so thick it would effectively take a few lifetimes to wear out.

I bought this when I was deployed to Iraq to carry my I.D. and my credit cards to prevent them from breaking. This thing is like Fort Knox. It has been through a lot and still holding up. It still closes real firm and the dividers inside are still in place and have not cracked. Highly recommend this for anyone that doesn'y like wallets but still wants to protect their cards.

A Great wallet almost, having owened this for a year now I always found I had too many cards to carry and either I could not carry them all or it popped open. I found it necessary to fit some it right side up and some upside down. When you fit them all the same way that embrossed sticking out part on the cards makes it to thick to close. It seems to me the seven plastic card slots take up a lot of the inside room. I discovered if i put three cards to a slot and left a couple empty it closed better, usually. So today I cut two of the slots off one end and glued the new end back to the inside. I was able to fit two more cards in and it still closed after doing this. But without those having just my normal cards it closes much better and doesn't bulge. I still think it was a great wallet as is but one or two less slots makes it able to hold more cards and i can still find what I need very quickly and easily with less slots.

You can't tell from the pictures, but there is a little raised emblem on one side of the case...to me it takes away from the otherwise clean / understated style. As far as functionality, couldn't ask for more. Seven slots but you can easily fit more than a single credit / ID card in each slot - I have about a dozen cards in mine. Slips in front pocket w/o a noticeable bulge. Had a leather / mesh slim wallet from Brookstone prior to this one, but the fabric wore over the course of 2 years. Don't see that happening with this bad boy - I'm pretty sure it will out last me.
