I'll admit it: I bought it for the cute light pink color. It's a bit smaller than the kettles I've used previously, but I'm just making tea for myself so it's perfect. The black handle NEVER gets hot which is a marked improvement from previous kettles I've owned.
However, the whistle doesn't get very loud. I could hear my previous kettles when I was in my bedroom. The whistle on this one barely carries to the living room, which is right next to the kitchen. The whistle was the whole reason I bought a kettle - I'm forgetful and have been known to allow pots of water to boil dry on the stove. I try to pay attention, but I've forgotten it once already when I got distracted in my bedroom. Also, the handle doesn't move so that can make it a bit awkward when I pour bottled water into the opening (I use bottled for tea).
If you're looking for a loud whistle, I'd give this one a pass. For $12, it's not a terrible buy and it does the job just fine, but I'll be replacing it when I move again in a few months.
Another thing to keep in mind: it's made in China.

What can you say about a tea kettle, it has a very good enamel finish, lightweight, well made, and it whistles. It was a tad smaller than expected, but is great for 3 or 4 cups. Very satisfied.
Just an update to this review, after about 6 months the enamel finish peeled off of the kettle. It has a beautiful stainless steel finish underneath, but when a big patch has peeled off it is extremely unsightly. yuk. There was absolutely no reason for the finish to peel off...buyer beware.

the kettle was the wrong color and damaged, and attempting to get a refund is a very frustrating process from Amazon, it takes away all the good will from an otherwise great site

I purchased this for my granddaughter's wedding shower. It was exactly what she wanted. She loves it. It was shipped promptly, and was perfect. Exactly as described.

It looks nice, but what I want to know before purchase is where it is made.
Can't find country of origin in the description.
I don't want cookware made in China.
