1rust  Jan 24, 2010 By knitlady
this was a gift. after about 10 days of using it, i noticed it was developing rust inside, about an inch below the lip, all the way around. not what you expect of not-so-cheap stainless steel. i would buy a more expensive one, but they all seem to be about the same quality/price range or lower.... and the ceramic ones are heavy.... it's time for someone to manufacture a good grade stainless steel one. i am back to my old ugly open plastic container till i find a better solution.....

3How do you change the filter?  Aug 17, 2010 By Ingrid
Counter top use for kitchen scraps is OK. But, How do you change the filter?? No instructions came with the product and the company has no website.

1Save your money  May 24, 2011 By AJ
We got this as a present and I really thought I would love it. I don't hate it enough to go buy something different, but I would not recommend it to anyone. I used to use the Debbie Meyers green bags to line the pail, but when I ran out of those and I just threw food in there, somehow it leaked onto my counter. Despite having changed the filters recently, it is stinky and we have to empty it a few times a week just to make sure it doesn't get foul smelling. Inside is starting to rust and I actually hate the stainless steel because it will get spots on the outside from water being splashed. Meh. Don't waste your money on this!

*Update* After writing this review, I just kept "dealing" with this composter. But I have finally reached my wits end. As others have mentioned, it smells, it rusts and gets nasty black spots on the inside that I cannot seem to scrub clean. On top of that, it is annoying to change the charcoal filter. Also, the filters don't seem to last too long for me before a stench starts to escape the darn things. The only positives that I see to this item is that it is a good size and it has a nice handle. That's it, in my opinion. Since this was a wedding present and purchased from a local box store, I am going to return it tomorrow as I can no longer deal with having it take up precious space on my already too small counter. In the meantime, I still am up in the air about if I will buy another composter, but if I do, I will DEFINITELY do my research and find one that gets better ratings.

5Stainless steel kitchen compost pail  Nov 03, 2010 By L. Johnson "LRJ"
Good item. Stainless steel won't break. Holds good amount of scraps. Easy to carry out to compost bin. Looks nice on counter. Good transaction and service.

Bought this over a year ago. No smell no rust. Empty it regularly and it looks nice on the counter too! Definitely would buy again!
