The set was advertised as "Ceramic" . Well, after a few months the "ceramic" peeled off in all the items and was left with metal, hopefully stainless.
The item itself is not bad .. brush does its work and the razor is as good as all Mach are. But, I am bothered about the misleading advertising.

I loved it when I got it about 6 months ago. The problem is that the white "ceramic" is just painted stainless steel, and the paint will chip away. Also, the brush fell apart recentley. Go higher end, or go cheap. This was a waist on $$

This is a good brush and razor combo but the stand has minor flaws. The brush is soft on the face, comfortable to hold and works quite well. The razor is of a good weight and despite the very smooth design handles quite well. The problem with the stand is that it leaves a 'rust ring' on the counter so I recommend using a coaster or being prepared for the periodic cleaning. There is no external rust on the stand and the problem is clearly resulting from the base interior not having an appropriate treatment or finish...but for the price would you really expect it? You can spend a lot more on just a brush but with this stand you get convenience, save valuable counter top real estate and have a nice looking shaving station. Next time I will probably increase my budget for a more expensive setup, but for an 'entry level' approach to brush shaving this is an economical and pleasing start point.
JAN 2011 Update. After a couple of good years, this set was replaced under good intentions via a holiday gift. I miss it already.

Everything looks nice on the stand, but it all fell apart when I tried to use the set to actually shave. For one, the razor is held together by a length of all-thread running down the middle that is little too short. I'll replace it with a longer piece from the hardware store when I get a chance. In the mean time, I'm using a different razor to shave with. Also, the brush keeps losing bristles. This is only the second shaving brush that I've owned, so I don't know if that's normal for a breaking-in period, but the first brush I owned didn't do that (Tweezerman brand).

This very reasonably priced set exceeded my expectations. Nicely made and finished. Paired with Trumpers Shave Creme made an excellent gift.
