Great set, brush is really good quality, but bowl could be bigger Feb 10, 2008 By Bone "JLLaser-com"
This is a nice aluminum brush and Mach 3 razor set with a just the right size bowl that is also the base.

The brush is pretty damn good quality badger hair. I was actually pretty surprised by the quality of the bush While it is a smaller brush it does a great job of making good cream in a quite short time. I use the cheap glycerin based Van Der Hagen shave soap from Wal-Mart and it does a great job with that. Just remember if you are going to use something like you'll need to kind of mash the brush on there so that it will actually fill the brush a little more as using just the tips doesn't work too well with them

The mach 3 razor handle is nice but I don't use it. I took a dremel to that side and widened it up a little so that my Merkur Futur razor fits on that side.

The bowl is nice but it's small so you don't get all that much shaving cream in there when you are getting it ready, so if you don't need to do more than one or 2 passes then it's not a problem to use the bowl, you'll get just the right amount for that. If they reintroduced this same set with a bigger base/bowl I'd buy it in a minute, but for now this set will do just nicely.

I bought this for my husband for xmas! He loves the brush and the heavy handle of the razor. It's also very compact. The razor sometimes slips off of the hook if you don't put it on right though.

I bought this for my husband in 2009 for Christmas. After a few months, the inside of the soap dish began to flake and peel, and now the inside looks like someone spilled acid in it.

The replacement razor blades are really expensive, too, which is a shame.

Overall, the set is nice, and my husband likes it. He doesn't mind the inside of the soap bowl, but I plan to replace it with something else as soon as I find something suitable.

Initially I was very happy with this purchase. However, six months of 2-3 times per week usage has resulted in the paint peeling inside the soap cup. The rest is still fine, but I now have silver flecks of paint in my shaving lather. I'm not exactly sure what to do about it, but I'm not happy.
