5NIce mug  Dec 08, 2011 By S M.
Its a nice mug. I decided to go back to using straight and DE razors after another electric shaver started to malfunction. In college I just used an old beer cup. That's not going to cut it now. This is a nice heavy mug but not perfect. The first time I tried to use it I popped a new 2.5oz cake of shaving soap and tried to work up a lather it seemed that most of the lather was going down between the soap cake and the mug wall ware it flairs out at the bottom. The mug would be better if the bottom was rounded. I tipped out the soap cake loaded up my brush with that lather.

I solved that problem by washing and completely drying the mug and soap cake.

Then I put the soap in the mug and very carefully and very slowly heated it up in the microwave to just liquify the soap. Do not overheat it!

*** WARNING!!! HOT soap is like to napalm! Be very careful or you will suffer a very serious burn! If you get hurt its your fault you have been warned! If your are not smart or patient enough to do it safely you should not try or be using a DE or straight razor ether.

I heated on med to med-hi you microwave mileage may vary for 10 sec at a time. It took about 40 to 50 seconds to completely melt it. When it starts to melt it goes from solid to liquid very quickly so be patient and careful just go slow. Do not over heat it you just need to liquify it. Do not get it any hotter than necessary.

After it was completely melted there was enough room to add a second 2.5oz cake I reheated it slowly until both cakes were liquified then very carefully removed it from the microwave tapped it to to get any air bubbles out and let it cool. Once it had cooled enough that there was no danger from thermal shock I put it in the refridorator to completely solidify it. Works very well now and I have no trouble working a nice thick lather in my brush. It still would be better if it had a rounded bottom not flat and the sides did not flare out. Its still a nice serviceable mug.

5Great shaving mug  Jan 24, 2012 By James "Been here a while. Platinum subscriber. Scott Brick one of my favorite narrators."
I'll resist the three-wolf-moon theatrics and stick to the basics. I shave in the shower, so this mug's advantages include: a solid heft so it doesn't wash off the ledge; a narrower base that fits nicely on the shower shelf; a helpful knob grip which makes it easy to hold while lathering up the brush; a nice width on the interior a bit wider at the top that makes swishing the brush around easier.

It's functional rather than fancy, and that's exactly what I was looking for. An excellent value for the price.

4Good, solid shaving mug  Jan 06, 2012 By S. Watkins "swatkins01"
This ceramic mug is solid, with just the right heft to feel well-built but not too heavy to hold while you are whipping up a lather. My only complaint, and it is a small one, is that the handle is not that easy to hold on to, especially when your hands are wet. I would have preferred a standard mug handle, but this is OK. Plus, it gives the mug a more nostalgic look.

5Great Mug.  Dec 17, 2011 By Evan J Blaickley "Blake"
A well made shaving mug that is durable, but light for holding. Can hold up to 3 bars of shaving soap at one time. The side handle is a great idea too. It has an ivory color to it and is NOT pearly white like the photos show.

5Great Bowl  Dec 14, 2011 By E. Kennedy
I got this for my uncle who still likes to lather the old fashioned way when he shaves. The ceramic bowl helps get a good later and the handle makes it easier to hold onto. Great gift for the classy gentleman in your life!
